Abstract
Many workers studied oxydative metabolism of reproductive organs in various way of sutdy. And hormonal influence upon tissue respiration of these organs were precisely evaluated. Despite this fact, little is known about the influence of anticancer substances upon tissue respiration of reproductive organs. Any knowledge that may be obtained about the influence of these organs, may assist in understanding some unsolved problem of chemotherapy in cancer treatment. Authors studied tissue respiration of rabit reproductive organs; uterus, tube, vagina and ovary, in normal and ovariectomized rabit treated with methotrexate and nitromin. The rate of oxygen consumption of tissue slice was measured by Warburg`s standard manometric technique. The results obtained are summarized as follow: 1) QO2 of uterus, tube, vagina and ovarian tissue slice were measured on normal rabits. This QO2 decreased in order of tube, ovary, uterus, vagina. 2) QO2 of tube, uterus and vaginal tissue slice of ovariectomized rabits decreased in order of tube, uterus, vagina. 3) QO2 of ovariectomized rabit tissues were lower than that of normal rabit tissues. And QO2 in tube of ovariectomized rabit significantly decreased than that of normal rabit. 4) QO2 of tube, uterus and ovarian tissues were decreased in methotrexate and nitromin treated normal rabit than none treated rabit. 5) QO2 of tube, uterus and vaginal tissues were decreased in methotrexate and nitromin treated ovariectomized rabit and lower than these drugs treated normal rabit. 6) There were no significant difference of QO2 between methotrexate and nitromin treated rabit reproductive organs.
